This is just a brief note to point out another place on Department of Interior land where inline skating is specifically encouraged, unlike out beautiful Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.
But what a beautiful place to travel to for inline skating! Click the photo for another article on this subject...

Kind of been out of the loop for a while, but am determined to get back into it. I have been procrastinating getting started me training for a triathlon that my wonderful wife signed me up for in June. I have known about this since my birthday in November, but have come up with every excuse in the book to not train. Something to watch on tv, too cold, too hot, blah blah blah...we have all heard it. Well the end comes today for me. No more excuses! This is where the challenge comes in. Post here what you did for the day as far as exercise.
The Ronald Reagan Parkway will be closed to traffic from 11pm Friday, February 13th to 7pm Saturday, February 14th 2009. There will be the annual 'Run the Reagan' race, but once that's done, skaters, cyclists and other walkers/runners can jump on and enjoy the 7 mile hilly stretch.
Skaters and cyclists and others who participate in active transportation (walkers, runners, skateboarders, more) please come out to the open board meeting of the North Carolina Active Transportation Alliance on January 11 in Raleigh. As we transition into a new federal administration, it's an important time to make your voice heard in support of projects that favor more and safer alternatives to the automobile...especially human-powered alternatives.
This post is based on an announcement from the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP) passed along by a local Bicycling in Greensboro representative to the North Carolina Active Transportation Association. I added some links and explanations below.
Please go to the link below now (at least before Oct 1) and complete the survey. Not all of it is aimed at us of course:
Here's a notice from Joe Godfrey, Senior Park Planner, Town of Cary (slightly edited by roadskater, with emphasis added):

As you know the project consists of the construction of a 4.68-mile long multi-use trail with two typical sections as follows:

If you're in the market for a heart rate monitor and place great value on the calorie counter function, I would not recommend you buy a Garmin Forerunner 305.
