Good times - Great people - Fun skating on the American Tobacco Trail in Durham NC.

Why oh why didn't I choose to inline skate sooner?  After much internal deliberation on gear (skates, wheels, bearings, helmets, gloves, apparrel, hydration source, brake, yada yada yada) it's become apparent that I was putting up roadblocks to perpetuate my procrastination.  All the while, local skaters of the Triangle Skating Club were out there doing their thing and having a great time!  (http://www.triangletrails.org/ATT.HTM)

Tour de Georgia: Biggest Loser Food-Stained Jersey for Acts of Embarrassing Spectatorism

No, it's not my award to the one who lost the most weight in the Tour de Georgia. It's for the lamest spectator or other non-cyclist in the tour. There were so many, for such a small audience.

Watch Tour de Georgia Cycling Video and GPS Tracking Free Online

Wow. Really great stuff and sorry to be late on this with the Eddy workshop and guests coming to town, but over time, free internet video and the Tour de Georgia are both getting cooler. As I had to keep telling myself last weekend, I can't leave town right now with lots to do and some of it requiring me to be here, so I will have to enjoy this opportunity from afar it seems. If anyone thinks they want to get a carpool together later in the week, let me know (I know I'm dreamin').

Ice Skating Treadmill; Plus OK Go "Here It Goes Again" Music Video

Thanks to a skating newsletter from Londonskaters Mike, here's a link to a video about Cornell University's ice hockey training 'treadmill'. Huh? How'd they get the ice to wrap around like that? ;-)

I wonder why they need a harness to skate uphill? And sure, pavement/wheel friction complicates things, but a pair of inlines plus a hill would probably be cheaper.

Roadskater.net Back and the United States Postal Service Now USP not USPS

Just a quick note to say sorry RSN was down a while. I had a power supply burn out and take along his mother on the way out. Thanks to timv for assistance in the effort to deny it was really dead with various parts to test. Thanks to tax day for making it all more pressure-packed, and to the USPS folk who were NOT THERE when I arrived with my usual at my usual 11:45 p.m. celebratory time. Sad. Bad enough to not have Krispy Kreme doughnuts and coffee. Worse still to see a lobby and parking lot full of people wondering what's up with that?

Texas Road Rash Inline Skate Marathon 2008

I had 5 skate practices in 2008. Practice #2 and #4 went badly.

I signed up for half marathon since 5k wasn’t offered. I packed the camera that I hadn’t skated with since Euroroll 2006. Time flies.

TXRR has matured and runs like clockwork under Richard Littrell and the City of Round Rock.

Saturday Elimination (11 laps, last man out)

Skate for LIfe Fundraiser for Josh Zalunardo, Brain Stem Glioma

2008.04.28 6:30 pm

US/Eastern

I received an email today from Stacey White, part of GT speed team, who is sponsoring the Marathon through the gardens in GA next month. They are involved in a fundraiser to help out Joshua Zalunardo, who was diagnosed with Brain Stem Glioma, a life threatening for of cancer. I know a lot of people on this site support many worthwhile causes and thought I would pass this on. Our money and time goes to help someone and we get to have fun doing it.

I have pasted the contents of her email with all the pertinant info...

Help...Sony Vaio home desktop computer had Windows crash showing error "NTLDR is missing"

I'm not a computer guru by a long shot so all help & suggestions are greatly appreciated. I may have to take it to someone or if that's too expensive it might meet my axe in the back yard and I'll get something new.

100 Police on Rollerblades (Inline Skates) Guard Olympic Torch Relay in Paris

OK it's not too important, but I'm always fascinated by any mention of the inline skating police in Paris. This seems a not so wonderful way to catch criminals, so I guess their duty is limited to situations where they're just a helpful resource. Only in movies where the thiefs run straight down a sidewalk or road conveniently would the skates be that great for the chase. However, being included in any honor guard that includes motorbikes and firefighters is pretty nice. We're on a thin schedule of reinforcement, we skaters!

My Bont Jet Adventure (Inline Skating Speedskating Boots, Skate Brakes, Stopping, Frame Placement)

I have had my Bont Jet skates for a couple of months now. It’s time to say a few words about them...

First off, a little bit about my skating background and my goals for my new skates. I have been a recreational inline skater for ~15 years and my trusty skates for the last 12 years have been Rollerblade Spiritblades. I decided to get new skates in order to go much longer distances (thus getting more exercise!), hopefully well into 20-30 mile range several times a week.

My journey did not lead directly to the Bont Jet.
